A Brooklyn man was run over and killed by his own truck after 2 thieves stole the flatbed vehicle and sped off in it.

The tragic incident occurred in the Greenwood Heights section of Brooklyn around 9:05 a.m. Monday.

According to DNAinfo.com, the two suspects ran up behind Phil Dellegrazie, who left the flatbed truck running in front of his shop, A&D Iron Works, a few blocks from the 72nd police precinct.
The thief and his accomplice hopped into the truck and sped off with the flatbed’s expensive payload: a construction crane.

Dellegrazie jumped into his black SUV and pursued the truck to Fourth Avenue where the flatbed got stuck in traffic.
The 63-year-old man got out of his pickup truck and tried to pull the driver out of the truck. But the hoodlum pushed him to the ground and ran over Dellegrazie, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The victim flipped up in the air about 8 feet. He hit the ground hard,” a witness told DNAinfo.com.
The witness said the thief made a right turn and drove the wrong way on 22nd Street towards Fifth Avenue. “People were diving out of the way,” the witness said.
The thug may have collided head on with another vehicle before the thieves abandoned the truck and fled on foot. The carjacker was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Dellegrazie’s grief stricken family members and friends cried near his body which lay on the rain-soaked street covered by a white sheet.
“[The carjacker’s] a son of a b—h. He’s a bad guy,” said Pablo Rodriguez, 48, one of Dellegrazie’s employees.
