Empire star Taraji P. Henson beat out female impersonator Bruce Jenner to be named USA Today’s Entertainer of the Year. Taraji was just as surprised as we are that Jenner, 66, didn’t walk away with the honor. He won every other title in 2015 for dressing in drag.
“Who thought Cookie would bring me this kind of notoriety,” Taraji told USA Today. “This is the type of character that people judge – she went to jail she sold drugs. But what happens? (People) run to her? Blows me away every time. That goes to show people like real.”
Did Taraji just throw shade at Bruce Jenner?
Taraji bragged about the perks that comes with playing Cookie Lyon: “I don’t wait in line for anything anymore. Upside, now that I’m rich, people like to send me things for free. I don’t understand that, but OK, I’ll take it. I love getting free gifts.”
Speaking of gifts, the 46-year-old single mother is reportedly dating a hunky former football player who is young enough to be her son.
Taraji, who has a history of failed relationships with men, was spotted holding hands with Chicago native Kelvin Hayden, who once played for the Indianapolis Colts.
Taraji has a 20-year-old son, Marcel Johnson, from a previous failed relationship.
