Former Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius was granted $692 bail following his conviction on murder charges in connection with the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Last week, South Africa’s Supreme Court overturned Pistorius’s 2013 manslaughter conviction and charged him with murder.
Pistorius will remain free on bail under house arrest with electronic monitoring at his uncle’s home, pending a sentencing hearing.
The 29-year-old double amputee is allowed to leave his uncle’s home between the hours of 7 a.m. and 12 noon. His travel is limited to 12 miles from his uncle’s home.
Steenkamp was shot multiple times through a bathroom door while she cowered on a toilet on Valentine’s Day 2013. Pistorius told police he mistakenly believed Steenkamp was an intruder.
Pistorius was freed from prison in October after serving one year of a 5-year sentence for manslaughter.
His sentencing hearing on the murder conviction is set for April 18, 2016. He faces a minimum 15 years in prison.
