Suge Knight Charged With Murder In Hit And Run Case

Exclusive - Suge Knight Chats Up With a LocalAs He Waits For His Car At The Car Wash

The streets of Los Angeles are safer now that gangsta rap music executive Suge Knight is back behind bars. Knight, 49, was charged with running over 2 men following an altercation on a movie set in Compton, CA., on Thursday. One man was pronounced dead. The other man was transported to a LA hospital. His condition is unknown.

Knight turned himself in to police early Friday. He is being held on $2 million bond at the West Hollywood sheriff’s station, Fox News reports. The tragic events were set in motion on the set of director F. Gary Gray’s biopic “Straight Out of Compton,” about the rise of iconic rap group NWA.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Capt. John Corina said Knight and the two men, ages 50 and 51, argued on the set. The men later left the set and drove to a nearby restaurant. Knight reportedly followed the men in his red pickup truck.
A witness told police the truck ran over the two men in the parking lot then backed over them before fleeing the scene.
Knight’s truck was found abandoned late Thursday night in a West Los Angeles parking lot, Corina said.
“The people we talked to say it looked like it was an intentional act,” Corina told reporters.
But Knight’s attorney, James Blatt, said his trouble-plagued client “accidentally” ran over “a friend” and injured another man.
“We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated,” Blatt told the Associated Press.
Knight co-founded Death Row Records in the early 1990s. He has a long criminal record including charges for attempted murder, aggravated assault, auto theft, drug possession and aggravated assault. He was incarcerated on multiple occasions between 1987 and 2003.
